Halloween Decorations, How To Make a Primitive Mummy! Fast and Easy

I am always looking at decorations, and wondering if I could make that myself, and save money. This Primitive Halloween Mummy turned out to be very easy, and quick to do. It's so easy you could have the kids making their own in no time with things lying around the house.

Below I have included the photos for each step of the craft project.

Step 1: Pick out your 3 pieces for the Mummy (head, body, and base).

Step 2: Attach the head to the body. I used a metal piece with 4 holes, and drilled in 4 screws.

Step 3: Attach the body to the base. I used 2 screws going in through the bottom of the base.

Step 4: Wrap the Mummy in gauze, and add 2 eyes, and 2 arms. I placed Spanish moss here and there, and on the base just for an added "aged" effect. After that you are all finished, and ready to put your Mummy out for Halloween! See how easy that was. You may want to make an entire Mummy family it goes so fast. Happy Haunting!

Easy Easter Crafts: Cardboard Cut Out and a Primitive Rabbit on Wood Hom...

Two East and Enexpensive Easter Crafts

First a Primitive Rabbit on Wood, and Second a Cardboard Cut Out Bunny

Like most of my homemade crafts, I like them to be done in a very short period of time, and made from things that I already have in the house, and recycled materials.

First for the primitive Rabbit on wood, I went down to the basement and chose a piece that I thought I could work with.
I sanded it, to clean off the dirt, and then drew the outline and painted my rabbit silhouette in black acrylic. Don't over think it, just draw and paint it.

Next I highlighted areas in white, like the arms, tail, mouth ears, and eyes. Finally, to give it an aged look, I sanded away some of the paint. I finished it by giving it a coat of polyurethane. Finally, the fun part, I hang it outside the front door.

On to the next bunny.
First I got my piece of cardboard, and drew the shape of bunny I wanted. Easy enough.

Next I was ready to cut out the bunny, and I painted it with a brown paint, but feel free to make it any color you choose.

I then spattered black paint using a tooth brush, cut and ties a ribbon around it's neck for decoration, and after that the bunny was all ready for Easter. If you choose to try out any of these craft projects please let me know how it went!

How to create your own Primitive and Stunning Easter Decorations DIY Crafts

Easter Decorating made easy. Primitive, and Stunning Easter Crafting in no time at all!
Looking for a not so typical Easter Craft Project that the entire family can take part in

Look no further, because here it is. Not only do these pieces look great, but they really are easy, and quick to do, and will certainly brighten up your home for the Easter Season. In fact they are nice enough to leave out all year long!

Though the video will explain everything you need to know step by step, I will also post some of the photos, and give a brief synopsis of what I have done to create these one of a kind little art projects.

After you have picked out your wood shapes, you can base coat them in black. Black is very important, because you will be uncovering some of that color latter in the process.
Dry brushed a little white on top of the black, tie a jute cord in the middle (if you wish it to look like two boards when you are finished). Next you can begin layering your colors. I chose brown, then beige, blue, and finally a little white.

For the birds nest, get a tool with a sharp end to scrape across the nest to simulate sticks. When you scrape it you will see the black underneath is what helps the nest to look like many separate sticks woven in to a nest.

Finally, spatter black on to the pieces with a tooth brush. Doing this will add depth to the piece, and believe me, it does a lot for the finished project.

Now you can remove the jute cord (if you used it) I also used 2 screws, and jute cord on the back to create a way to hang the boards.
I hope you will try this fun, and different kind of Easter Craft for your home, and please let me know what you thought of it!

No Cost Low Cost Exquisite Easter Crafts you can make Yourself. Primitive Rabbit

Looking for an easy DIY Craft for you and the kids?

How about this primitive Rabbit? It looks great, it's very easy, and may cost you nothing to do. Also, if you have kids, it's simple enough that they will find it fun too!

A Primitive Easter Rabbit, or even for an everyday decoration in the home, that you can make by yourself in about an hour. This is a very easy no cost, or low cost craft that is fun, and quick for anyone to try out.

Begin by drawing your selected image onto the piece of cardboard. I know, it's cardboard, but don't worry, it's going to look great when you are finished. You won't believe your eyes.

Paint your image. Don't worry about the areas that show through underneath, it will only add to the "aged" look of the piece. After all, it is a primitive, and that is what gives them their charm.

Next you can add your shading, and spots of "wear" to the piece, and cut it out. Note: For me, cutting it out was actually the hardest part of the entire prokect. Now the fun part! It is ready for a little fancy decorating, as you see fit. I used a few twigs from the yard, Spanish moss, and left over ribbon for mine.

You are all finished, and ready to put it on display. These pieces are very fast, and also easy enough for kids to do as well.
Below are a few more Rabbits that I have added to my collection, and as you can see, they are wonderful, fun, and festive! I hope you try this project, and as always, if you do...let me know!

How to make your own Cone Christmas Trees. Quick, Easy and Inexpensive

Have you ever wanted one of those Cone Christmas trees that you see in the stores, but you really don't want too spend $19.99 and up? Well I am going to show you how you can do it for the cost of a $2.00 piece of poster board, and a few other items, many of which you may already have at home.
1: Take your poster board, and a pencil with a string tied to it, the length equal to the length (shorter) of the poster board. You will be using this to draw your curved line on the poster board. This is going to give you the flat bottom of the cone to sit on...so it's not a crooked tree.
2: Place one end of the string in the top corner (hold it there), and stretch out the string with the pencil attached to the bottom corner. Draw on the poster board the curve that the pencil will follow.
3: Cut the curved line that the pencil has drawn, and tape the 2 edges together to form a cone. I also taped the inside just to make sure that it would not come apart.
4: Now that you have your cone shape the fun can begin. You can decorate it any you with by using glitter, lace, Christmas wrapping paper, or what ever you can think of. I would suggest searching Google for "Cone Christmas Tree" and look at all of the ways they are decorated. In no time you will have found your favorite, or favorites.
For decorating my tree I had chosen lace that I had left over from another project. I hot glued the lace in three rings around the tree starting from the bottom. I then hot glued some wood shavings, a jute cord bow, and some pine cones to the top for an added rustic touch. For the finished I glued a few glitter snowflakes around the tree, and I thinks it looks just as I had wanted it to, but as I said...you can do what ever your little heart desires.
I plan on doing another with Christmas Songbook sheets glued to it, and stained with coffee for an aged look. As you will find out...the possibilities are endless, and you will probably end up wanting to do more than one of these since they take about an hour and a half to do. Let me know if you do, and Happy Holidays!

You Don't Need A Lot Of Money To Have An Interesting Garden

My garden was doing well, but it lacked points of interest. Looking online I found many things that I would like, but they all had one thing in common... They all cost more money than I was willing to spent. I started thinking that I could, with a little effort, create some of those things on my own with things I had around the house.
The Old Ladder Trellis
I had been wondering for awhile what I was going to do with this 40 foot wooden ladder that was no longer safe to use. Someone I knew showed me how they had made one into a little garden fence. That got me thinking about my garden, and what it needed. It only took a few minutes to see that yes, you could make a trellis out of an old wooden ladder, and the next day I did just that.
It wasn't complicated in the least. Just measure the 2 side pieces equally. and another for the top. Attach with screws, and brackets, and bury each "leg" about 1 food below the ground, and it was done. After that I hung some plants from it, and attached an old looking bird house (that I also made), and it looks great. It also adds interest to that part of the garden which I thought was lacking. I used left over ladder pieces for porch decoration, and tomato plant holders.

The Old Garden Signs
I had been wanting old signs for awhile to put around the outside of the house, but if you look at the prices, they can be a little costly. Again I used what I had at home already, which is wood, and paint. You need only to choose what you want your signs to say, and paint it on them. I then sanded mine a little to give it an aged look, and finished by staining it to seal it, and I was finished. You also have to paint in what you would like it to say, but don't worry too much about that, it doesn't need to be perfect. The sanding, and staining will hide any mistakes you might make.
I don't know what I will be doing next, but I an sure that it will be as fun as these two projects have been. Will you now be trying out something for your own home???
